​December 18 marks International Migrants Day, a day dedicated to focusing on the rights of migrants and the challenges they face. Established by the United Nations in 2000, this day commemorates the 1990 adoption of the "International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families."

​Who is a Migrant?

​A migrant is an individual who moves within a country or from one country to another to improve their standard of living, seek employment opportunities, safety, or education. They provide significant economic, social, and cultural contributions to both their home countries and their new host countries.

​Why is This Day Important?

​Migrants often face issues such as fraud, criminal exploitation, and a lack of access to essential services. Therefore, International Migrants Day protects their human rights and draws attention to the necessity of building a fair and just society.

What We Can Do:

​Spread awareness and empathy within society.

​Protect and uphold fair labor rights.

​Respect and embrace diversity.

​On this day, we must consider the skills and strengths of migrants and commit ourselves to building a world that supports safe, legal, dignified, and equal migration for all.
