Fit For Life - CRICKET

      CRICKET

Cricket is one of the most popular and widely played sports in the world, with a rich history dating back to 16th century England. It is believed to have originated as a children’s game in the southeast of England, gradually evolving into an organized sport with defined rules by the 18th century. The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), established in 1787, played a key role in standardizing the laws of cricket, which helped the sport gain formal recognition.

Cricket is played between two teams of eleven players each, with the main objective of scoring runs by hitting the ball and defending the wickets. Over the years, cricket spread across the globe through the influence of the British Empire, becoming especially popular in countries like India, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. The sport has evolved to include different formats such as Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20), appealing to both traditionalists and modern audiences.

Today, cricket is not only a competitive sport but also a cultural phenomenon, inspiring millions of fans and players worldwide. Major tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup and professional leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) have made cricket a global spectacle, blending skill, strategy, teamwork, and passion into a captivating sport enjoyed across generations.
