Fit For Life - BASEBALL

BASEBALL

Baseball is a popular team sport with deep historical roots, particularly in the United States, where it is often called the national pastime. The origins of baseball can be traced back to early bat-and-ball games played in England, which later evolved into the modern game during the 19th century in America. By the mid-1800s, baseball had developed standardized rules, and organized clubs began to emerge. The formation of professional leagues helped shape baseball into a structured and competitive sport.

Baseball is played between two teams of nine players, with the objective of scoring runs by hitting a pitched ball and safely reaching bases arranged in a diamond shape. The sport requires a unique combination of skill, strategy, teamwork, and patience, as players must carefully time their actions while adapting to different game situations. Over time, baseball expanded beyond the United States and gained popularity in countries such as Japan, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and South Korea.

Today, baseball is played at amateur, collegiate, and professional levels around the world. Major competitions like Major League Baseball (MLB) and international tournaments have increased the sport’s global appeal. Beyond competition, baseball teaches discipline, cooperation, and respect for the game, continuing to unite players and fans across generations.
