World Independence Day

 World Independence Day

World Independence Day is celebrated around the world on November 9 once a year. This day has a special place in world history as it commemorates the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. For 28 years, the Berlin Wall separated the people of Germany from two sides, even their families and friends. It was a symbol of the antagonism between the socialist East and the democratic West during what was known as the "Cold War". The fall of that wall became a great victory for the people against the oppression of freedom.

The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 by the government of East Germany under the influence of the Soviet Union. Its purpose was to prevent people from fleeing to West Berlin. The people living in East Germany were under strict control, they were not allowed to think, speak or move freely. But over the years, the desire for freedom was increasing in the hearts of the people. After peaceful protests, petitions for amendments, and international pressure, the walls were opened on November 9, 1989.There, thousands of people gathered and started breaking down the wall. The reunification of Berlin marked a moment in world history when freedom and peace triumphed.

Today, World Freedom Day is celebrated not only to commemorate Germany's history, but also to remind that every human being deserves freedom. There are countries around the world where people still don't have the ability to express themselves, express their beliefs and live freely. This day reminds people to respect human rights, stand up against injustice, and defend republican rule. Also, as a message to the young generation, freedom is not something that comes easily, but it is a precious value that is gained through challenges and opposition.

Finally, World Independence Day reminds us that no physical walls or ideas can separate people's desire for freedom, dignity and peace. It tells us to cherish the freedom we have, to fight for those who have lost it, and to work for a world that celebrates.
